People.com says that 6-year-old Matthew Parker was a match with only 1% of the population and his parents were having a hard time finding a donor. Until Mathew’s first grade teacher got a blood test and found out that she was a match!

Mathew is a triplet and when they were born 4 and a half months early. When the 6-year-old was born, he only weighed 1 lb., 15 oz! At three weeks old, he had a blood infection. That, along with low blood pressure caused him to have kidney failure.

At 2-years-old, the little boy started dialysis and received a kidney transplant but his body rejected that kidney. He needed a new kidney… soon! Luckily, his teacher turned out to be a match and the surgery is svheduled for March 19th.
Mathew’s mom said this about his teacher who is giving up on of her kidneys:
“She’ll be a part of Matthew,” says his mom. “I think we’ll make her a part of our family.”
